Before I explain why this new brewer is so great, let me tell you a small story. About 5 years ago, I made the OREA V1. A small, fast, unibody flat bottom brewer designed for brewing anywhere you go. Our goal during the 4 years between V1 and O1 was to create the best brewer for everyday use. Our rewards came when both the V3 and the V4 were used to win the World Brewers Cup in the last three years. We have a deep understanding of what tastes good and we constantly adjust our devices to make them better. Our goal for the O1 was to refocus on the explorer and create something that aligned with our original vision. Something that is fast, easy, tasty, and very versatile. Designed to go anywhere you go, but equally great at home, cafe, or brewing competition. Importantly, something that enhances the taste experience even more. From the Brewers Cup to the mountain top - you deserve the best and we are here to make it happen for you!

Our first plastic brewer (The V3 Trogamid) was clear - but not quite as exquisite as the O1. It takes time to find the right manufacturers that truly care about quality and details as much as we do. In fact, it has taken us nearly 5 years. The attention to detail in tooling design, polishing, and in the injection itself yields a perfect object with no injection or flow marks. The best quality plastic brewer in the industry - PERIOD.

Clear like glass but extremely durable and impact resistant. Made from a single-piece of 100% food-safe, BPA Free Tritan plastic. Polished to perfection and manufactured with care in a family-run boutique plastic factory. Baby size with big performance

Our flat bottom brewers are legendary for their performance, consistency, and the resulting delicious cup of coffee. We define extraction efficiency - designing devices that brew quickly but at increased extraction rates. Our attention to detail and constant improvement in designs yields a perfect platform to brew on. The BABY O is no different. Designed to work with WAVE and FLAT filters, compatible with the Negotiator tool and as consistent, fast, and efficient as our other brewers.

WAVE filters are easy, fast, and extremely available around the world. They allow more bypass, airflow, and create a narrower bed. Usually under the same parameters, they result in a less concentrated brew. Many like them for their ease of use, plug-and-play nature, and quick brew times. The O1 is compatible with the traditional 155 WAVE sized paper / our SMALL sized WAVE paper.

FLAT filters are fun, delicious, and offer a higher quality of brew due to a lowering of bypass and the creation of a wider, shallower bed of coffee in our brewer. Many like them for the juicy, sweet, full-bodied cups they help create by ensuring more water passes through the coffee and less around it. The O1 is compatible with the SMALL, 155 OREA Flat Filters / the SMALL, 155 Sibarist FAST Flat Filters.

There is no wrong answer - the O1 is a best-in-class device whatever filter type you throw at it. Whether you choose convenience vs fun, or simply like to have the option while travelling - you will love the brews that come out of the BABY O.

ORiginal open bottom

Our original OPEN bottom design has featured in our Glass, Porcelain and V4 plastic brewers for years. The OPEN bottom provides a ridge for the flat paper to stand atop, designed to find the perfect balance of support and space. The paper naturally bends through the middle, encouraging a more central flow of water through the coffee bed. With this style of brewer we find our most unique profile of acidity, with a more conical flow pattern through a shallow flat bottom bed. Candy-like acidity without sacrificing balance, sweetness and body. A masterpiece that has been much duplicated but not yet replicated.

Why a small brewer?

This is a question we searched deep into our souls to answer. Our original brewer was tiny (smaller than this one) but we moved away from that form factor after the first batch of the V3. Over time, we have come to really miss it. Small brewers are just nicer to use for single dose brews. You have more control over the flow of water through the bed by being able to get much closer with the kettle's spout. As hyper-specialty coffee grows in popularity, small-dose (8,10,12 GRAM) brews are starting to become more popular. A smaller device is easier to use for these smaller doses.

Small brewers are really fun to brew. A close connection of the person to the coffee bed allows for more control, faster feedback, and overall more fun. It's a hard feeling to describe - but you will have to take our word for it! All we know is that after 3 years of not using this size device - we really appreciate having it back into our lives.

Optimised size

Just the right size for single-dose brewing. The bed size and depth is optimised for the doses we recommend. This is definitely not a two-cup brewer - rather optimised in size for brewing one delicious cup of coffee.

Our traditional flat bottom designs featured a removable base that was normally placed lower on the device. For the O1, we decided to raise this much higher to bring the centre of gravity lower for more stability.

A smaller brewer means less material that can be a heat sync. The energy is going to stay in the coffee bed, rather than escape it. All of our designs try to minimise material use, but here even more so - due to the size. This results in a very thermally stable brew, giving you (the brewer) the ultimate control of the extraction dynamics.
