I've been looking for excuses to collaborate with Nükhet (otherwise known as @blckhoneygirl on Instagram) for quite some time. An amazing artist and a coffee professional - the perfect person to help me tell more of the story of OREA.
OREA means "from the mountains" in old Greek. I wanted to keep a connection to coffee's origins and the beautiful mountains that give us the beautiful coffee we drink. The brief for Nükhet was to find a minimalistic way to tell the story of the mountains. The resulting design was chosen by people in the community through a series of polls. I would call the chosen design as an illustration of the fingerprint of the mountains - showing us different mountains, valleys, and stories.

The profits from the sale of these tees will 100% go to the artist and a charity of their choice.
In the first release, Nükhet chose to support I'm not a barista, a global non-profit that helps baristas in need.
For this second release, Nükhet chose to support Regalia Roasting Collective. Their minority-owned small family business suffered a big setback due to a large fire in the space on April, 25. The funds raised through these shirt sales will help them rebuild this space for the community in Long Island City, NY, so more people can learn how to roast and how to run a coffee business.

These tees are made with a heavyweight cotton, in order to be long lasting. They're not rough but not soft, a happy medium in feeling. The heavyweight fabric ensures a more structured look and less wrinkling.
These tees come in a more boxy fit. They may be a little shorter and wider than other shirts, for a more relaxed fit. They should run true to size, but please see the size guide in the section above. Constructed from a single piece of cloth, it has no side seams.
Nükhet comes from Turkey and her country has a lot to do with why she ended up working as aAfter working in an extreme sports clothing store since she was 15 Nükhet had to leave that job because the shop was not doing very well.
To this day, Turkey can be called a conservative country in more ways than one. In this case, the problem was tattoos. And Nükhet has loads of beautiful tattoos! So she googled places to work where tattoos wouldn’t be an issue and she found out that coffee shops can be a relaxing space for her.
She started as a waitress but her thirst for knowledge always led her to ask a lot of questions about all things coffee. She wanted to know every aspect of the business, from farming and roasting to working as a barista and understanding the science behind brewing a delicious cup of coffee. She quickly went from waitress to barista and assistant roaster.
Apart from coffee, Nükhet loves designing, listening to music and is always involved in extreme sports. But as she admits, coffee has turned into her favorite hobby. She’s brewing when she wakes up, she’s working on recipes, talking to her friends about coffee and recently her love for coffee is also reflected in her designs.
